Lilith Saintcrow was one of the first urban fantasy writers I stumbled across. I loved the covers for her Dante Valentine, Saint City series. When her Jill Kismet series started I wasn't as fond of the characters but by the second book I was drawn back in, fully.Strange Angels is her first YA novel and again it's urban fantasy, a strong heroine and a couple of interesting additional characters who are a little different from the usual supporting cast. The protaganists are younger, but other wise this is pure Saintcrow, so if you liked her other novels I can't imagine a reason you wouldn't love this too!
Dru's father is a demon hunter and Dru herself is not without some skills, including some sight. When her father doesn't return from a hunt she finds herself dependant on her limited skills to survive. She also has to figure out who to trust and fast because she won't make it long on her own.
I thought it was beautifully done, a couple of dispossesed teens trying to figure out what to do against a far stronger enemy the only other help that's offered coming from a dubious source. Dru's need to connect with another human being after losing her Dad rubbing against her need to protect herself was nicely handled and made her much more human.
A strong YA from an excellent urban fantasy author.

I've read this book about a couple of months back and didn't get into it. It made me avoid Lili StCrow.
I liked this one but saw a lot of mixed reviews on it. A lot of people had issues with how Dru described Graves, which gave me pause, but I chalked up to her needing some education. My thoughts were in line with yours overall. I liked it.
Cherry, it's not the first time we have been polarised in our views. I always find it interesting though so thanks for dropping by. :)
Janicu, i've read some bad reviews but I love her adult novels and am now totally confused as to what people didn't like. I have no issue with how she described Graves, she is trying to think like her dad to survive and from that perpective he probably looks very young indeed. Glad you liked it. :)
