Lex Trent Vs The Gods - Alex Bell

This is a YA title with thanks to Headline.

Lex Trent is young, charming, talented, bright and a liar, a thief, a conman and a cheat. Likeable in spite of his unrepentantly dispicable nature we follow the already naturally lucky Lex as he shifts his allegiance to the goddess Luck. Lex loves adventure and once he gets involved with Lady Luck there is plenty of that as he is chosen for the Games an entertainment for the gods.

It's a lot of fun! A good, entertaining adventure and Alex has a fair bit of fun with it not quite being a moral tale. Every time you think something has finally got through to Lex about his behaviour it turns out he is as ruthless as ever. If you have kids you have to read this out to them, I suspect it lends itself perfectly to an audience (if anyone has tried this i'd love to know how it went). I can't say much more about it without giving too much away, but there are fantasy beasts, crones, enchanters, lawyers, ferrets and clearly, gods.

I have one of Alex's adult novels in my endless TBR stacks but apparently this is very different, I shall have to get back to you on that one, but Lex Trent is well worth reading.
