Mark Henry here! That's me looking suave, debonair and/or constipated--->
...and thus ready for some serious guest bloggery/debauchery.
With good reason mind you. For this----------------------->
...is an author with a series in jeopardy. That's right. It's true. Turns out that when the economy turns to crap, authors are effected. Who'd have thought as much? Well not me.
But I'm dealing.

Let me bring you up to speed. I write about zombies (I know, I know what you're thinking, who doesn't?)...but I do it from their perspective. I take an unflinching look at what it'd be like if a regular person--not particularly nice, in fact, quite nasty as a human--became a flesh-eating, hooch guzzling, snarky ghoul. Amanda Feral is that character, and I'm kind of fond of her. The third book in the series--Battle of the Network Zombies--comes out on February 23rd, but that's not why I'm here.
You see, my zombie diva is in danger and not just from trannie werewolves and tentacled manicurists. Apparently, trade paperbacks are expensive and when times get tough, readers by mass-market editions. Pshaw. What do y'all need food and shelter for? Paper is perfectly nutritious and that cover doubles as an umbrella. So sales did NOT live up to expectations despite one of those cultish LOVE it/HATE it responses that are supposed to sell many copies. I guess the timing was just off. Among other things.
But still. I'm not willing to give it up. I'm convinced that Amanda is more than just a different breed of protagonist amongst the urban fantasy crowd, she's her own genre. Black-Comedy-Horror in the tradition of Seinfeld and Shaun of the Dead. Not that Seinfeld was particularly horrific, except when Elaine danced. But you get my meaning. I'm telling you this book is different.
And I need your help.
The mass-market reissue of Happy Hour of the Damned comes out today and I'm putting up a SIGNED (and SNARKED) copy of Road Trip of the Living Dead and Battle of the Network Zombies to 2 lucky commenters, but buying the first one is up to you. Pretty good deal considering Battle doesn't even come out until the end of the month. Plus, extra bonus points for posting a link back to the Save Amanda Feral campaign on your own site, blog, myspace, facebook, or twitter. Feel free to snag the image above or the official one from my site. So, what if you already own Happy Hour of the Damned? Why not snag one for a friend, it's only $6.99 now.Show some Amanda love in the comments for an entry and help put this author's mind at ease!
Contest will run until Monday, February 8th.

For anyone thinking of commenting I reviewed Happy Hour not long ago and whilst it is a bit gross, particularly in the beginning, it is hugely entertaining.
Hi Mark :)
I'm going to purchase the entire series, so unless the copies are signed don't enter me.
All the best,
RKCharron
Edited the post to add that, yes, the books will be both signed and snarked!
Totally in need of a new genre. Black Comedy (especially Zombie Comedy) is becoming huge again. I think this is right up that alley.
Like Heathers? You will love the hell out of this series!
Like Shaun of the Dead or Buffy/Angel? You will love it provided you love the snark and bitchiness of Amanda. ;)
(Feel free to leave me out of the running by the way. What I don't have signed I will take care of in Columbus.)
So... Battle is coming out in Trade, right? That means I have to enter so I can WIN (crossing fingers) and complete my set of signed copies. :)
And, of course, I'm gonna be one of those buying the mmpb as they become available (yes, starting today). What can I say... Amanda makes me laugh!
I haven't read the series yet, but I can't wait to! It was recommended to me by Kat Richardson a while ago and I was never able to find the first book. Now that it's out in mmpb, I'm so excited! I also posted the Save Amanda Feral banner on the sidebar of my blog.
I haven't started your series yet Mark, but I'm definitely going to pick up the new edition Happy Hour of the Damned. I've heard such good things about it, even though I've got some trepidation on the gross factor, I'm going to give it a try.
Thanks y'all. And the gross factor is just a shield to veil the social satire from being too preachy. Also, I'm a boy and dick and fart jokes are pretty common in my circle. But if you like Kevin Smith movies, or John Waters flicks, Heathers? Then you'll be okay.
To be honest, the gross eases off pretty quickly. It's just establishing the baseline behaviour really. ;)
Mark I feel like I am stalking you. LOL
I bought 2 copies of HHOTD. I am going to send one to me sis or give one away on my blog.
Plus, I posted Save Amanda for you with all your friends links and order links.
