With the re release of his previously self published zombie apocolypse novel Autumn (the first in a series being released by Gollancz now) David Moody came to Highcross Waterstones to meet some of Leicester's many zombie fans.
I'm pleased to say they didn't disappoint and my competitive spirit was delighted to know that more books were shifted in Leicester's storeMonday night than in Oxford Street on Saturday. The City in which Terror4Fun makes it's home is still number one for zombies.
David was charming and took his time chatting to everyone, getting photos taken and talking to Un:Bound (which will be available in the new year as part of the sekrit project). He handed out postcards and magnets, agreed to sign foam hands, one for a charity auction and one for a giveaway here on Un:Bound (to be held in the new year). He also stuck around to sign stock so if you would like a signed copy of Autumn, Hater or Dog Blood then call the Highcross store and get yourself one.
Waiting for events to start I began re reading Autumn and am delighted to say it's as compelling a few years later as it was first time. The rest of the series will be released on a fairly quick schedule, I believe the next one is in three months. There are also more books in the Hater series to come over the next year so it's a busy 2011 coming for David.
Interviews with David will be appearing in the Zombie Times (pdf document available for Terror4Fun) and on Un:Bound over the winter, so look out for those too.
Kudos to Steve and the gang at Highcross, first of all for setting this up and second for the sheer energy and effort they put into all their events.
If you like a good apocolypse and you haven't read the Autumn series now is your chance and I strongly recommend them! So much so it's competition time.

I'd love to read his book!
My favorite zombie movie is Zombieland. I know, it isn't scary, but it's so much fun!

My favourite zombie film is The Evil Dead. I have a special edition in a cover made of a rubbery rendition of the book of the Dead. Love it!
I think my favorite zombie movie is night of the living dead. I love that it is as much social commentary as it is a zombie movie.

I love David Moody..totally new and creative spin on Zombies! Im hooked.
My favorite zombie movie is Shaun of the Dead. It's a classic and no other movie comes close.
My favorite movie is Night of the Living Dead (the original of course). My favorite novel is The Dead by Mark E. Rogers. (Sort of George Romero meets the Book of Revelation.)Intelligently written and genuinely frightening book. :-)
My fav Zombie book is probably World War Z. Its a great book. it makes you feel like you are actually reading about a zombie war and hearing about all these different peoples encounters and experiences during the war. Some of the stories are touching and sad others make you think long and hard about how these scenarios in a real life situation would be very practical.
Movie wise, I really love Zombieland. It's just fun and I hear they are making a second one.
